#6 Level 2: COMPLETE

Blogging and I have never gone together so well.  I feel like I would like it a lot better if i had more time to actually work on them.  My favorite thing about blogging was always seeing what other people would write about.  We would all get the same general topic and spin it in so many different ways.  But sometimes I just couldn't think of anything to write.  It would literally take me 2 hours just to write one entry because i would start one and then decide that i didn't like the topic.
Although it was difficult for me overall, I always like the process of literally thinking into text.  Being able to write down exactly what you are thinking, kind of like our fast writes.  These past 2 semesters with blogging have really got me more comfortable with writing down my thoughts onto paper...or typing them on the computer.  Even though I don't like doing them, i know they are helping me in one way or another.

#5 Media

Ever since we talked about media in class I have really payed attention to all of the media I see.  My nieces love to watch a lot of movies and i have slowly been noticing all of the violent things depicted in these little kid movies.

In this scene,  Flint discovers what a snowball fight is and he begins to throw the ice cream.  He then goes into someone's house and the way that they react to the ice cream is like they were just shot and the ice cream splatter looks like blood splatter.

I mean not many children realize that it looks like this but it all these little subliminal messages that the kids are getting. And not are there only violent things, there are a lot of adult joke.

This video has a mixture of a lot of kids shows with a lot of inappropriate jokes.

It just shocks me with what is able to be said and done on kids shows.

Neon Splash Dash

So on May 11th, my family, friends and I are all going to be running "the most magical 5k on earth."  It is called the Neon Splash Dash.  I am very excited because it is the first 5k that I have ever done and because you get really messy while doing it.  My friend has done a bunch of them so she would be the expert on them.

I am also excited because all the money gets donated to people in need. I always love volunteering so this is just another way for me to lend a hand to help others while having a good time.  I usually help out by working in food banks or at other organizations such as St. Mary's Food Bank, Feed My Starving Children, and at my church.

Neon Splash Dash

At the end of the rope...

...or at least one of them.

My first year of college is almost over and I feel like I have senioritis all over again.  Everything just feels like its not worth my time.  The fact that I know I should be doing it and that it's worth my time yet I don't do it until the last minute really bothers me.  I want to do it and I want to pass, but I feel like it's pointless.

I find it very hard to try and focus on school.  My mind and my priorities are way out of line.
Do any of you guys feel the same?
If so, how do you stay focused?

#4 Capitalism: A Love story

So while we were watching this movie by Michael Moore, it really shocked my how they literally throw people out on the street with no place to go.  When they showed the couple who lived in the house that his family lived in for many years, that really touched me because i pictured it happening to my grandparents or anyone that i know and it made me very sad.

I was also shocked with how far Moore pushes the boundaries with everything he does.  I have never seen any of his other films so I don't know how he normally acts.  But some of the things were great because he showed you how other people will react to certain things and i feel like it was very interesting. 

Moore views on certain topics are a lot different than mine, but the way he approaches it makes me want to watch some of the other movies that he has made.

Music

What kind of music do you listen to?

I love every kind of music and I listen to it all the time.  I am one of those people that have a radio going when I get up in the morning, in my car, and even when I lay down to go to bed.  People always say "Music is my life."  Although I have probably said that before, I would have to change that to music moves my life.

Everyone has a least one song that reminds them of a memory that they loved, and another song that can bring them to tears, and sometimes it is the same song.  I love listening to music because i feel like nothing else is happening, I just get lost in the words and the instruments in the background.

Right now I am a big fan of Ed Sheeran.  No I am not in love with him just because everyone else is.  I am not one of those big "band wagon" people who just like a band because everyone else does.

#3 Shorter classes

When it comes to school, I think everyone would love to get it done as fast as possible.  Being able to get your classes done faster is very helpful and I like the idea. I know I am not a huge fan of college in the sense that it is so expensive and with these shorter classes it would save you a lot of money in tuition and you would be able to be out in the real world working a real job and making money instead of always being in debt.

Although there are many helpful reasons to shorten the class, a lot of people are argueing that a lot of content will be cut of because the class will be shortened.  In the article it says that not all of the classes will be shorten just the ones that can be.  That means all of the in depth classes will probably stay a 15 week class and not be cut in half.

Right now it doesn't really effect me so I don't have a strong opinion on it, but it will effect me later and I am fine with it either way.

Free Time

Some people have WAY to much free time on their hands.  I always see these random videos of people doing the stupidest things just because they had nothing better to do.

The first video I found was probably a bunch of college guys that had nothing better to do so they made a huge domino line with beer bottles.

These guys must drink a lot of beer!  And did they not think of the cleaning up that they would have to do after?  Or is that just because I am a girl that i thought about that?  But seriously...you can see all the bottles breaking and it is just making a mess.  I just don't understand.

This next video is if these other guys who just love making slow motion videos.  They love to capture the slow motion video of balloons popping, so they decide to step it up a notch.

Obviously, (if you watched the video) it took them quite a while to capture what only took a couple seconds to actually happen.  Although it is very interesting to watch a balloon pop in slow motion but it is a task that takes a lot of time.

#2 Slanted Reporting

Slanted reporting is everywhere now-a-days.  Even when we are telling a story we still slant it in one direction or another...at least slightly.  There are a lot of people out there that get offended and feel like they are being like to by the slanted reporters because they are only getting the story from one point of view, but it all depends on how the person takes it.

I could care less about slanted reporting because I never watch the news or read articles at all.  Honestly, I am not too aware of what is going on in the world today at all.  The only time I ever watch the news is when it is playing in a public place.  Other than that i would rather not watch it.

Basically, most news stations do have some slanted reporting.  So all of the news stations have different views on issues and they tend to just attack each others information.

If you watch this Youtube Link, it shows you exactly how some people attack other peoples information just because they are opposing views.

So no matter what there is going to be some slanted reporting in some ones favor.  And just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean its not true for someone else.

Meggs 'n Bacon / Megga-Tron / Meggers

I hope you could guess that ^those^ are some of the nicknames that people call me.

Well...my name is Meggan. Yes, with two 'g's.  Why my parents decided that? I have no idea, but I like it because I feel like my name is basically even on both sides.  One thing you should know about me is that I don't like going in order.  This is suppose to be my introduction, but I didn't feel like making this my first post. 

So what can I say about myself? Well I am 19 years old and I was born in Seattle, WA.  I moved to AZ when I was about 6 years old.  My goal is to graduate from GCC with my associates degree and then transferring over to either GCU or ASU.  I am still unsure of my major though.

Some of my hobbies include playing sports and I also love to draw.

These are some of the drawings that I have done in the past week.  I love to learn how to draw new things, but the thing that i really want to learn how to do is to paint.  I love the different ways that you can put the paint on a canvas.

Bad Lip Reading

So whenever you're really bored what do you do? 

Well when I am bored I play around on YouTube and find some really funny videos.  The best ones that i have found lately are these ones called "Bad Lip Reading."  The creators of the videos take scenes from movies or clips from TV and change the audio so it looks like they are saying something else.  I find it very entertaining because a lot of them actually look like the person is saying something very random.

And no, I am not a huge twilight fan.  I just think these videos are pretty funny to watch.  My favorite one is definitely the NFL one.  Even though guys normally like it more than girls do.

#1 Blog Blah Blah.....

Blogs... I am not that excited when it comes to blogs, but since I have started writing them last semester, I feel as though they have become a lot easier.  I have definitely come a long way since when i wrote my first blog and I'm looking forward to this semesters blog assignment.

So my favorite kind of blogs are the ones with a lot of pictures or an arts/crafts one because I love to make things and play around with old things to make them look good.

How About Orange is one of those types of blogs that I would love to follow.  They have so many things that you can make and I think it is visually appealing because it shows pictures of the steps in creating something.

A Beach Cottage is definitely a blog that I like.  It is basically short and sweet.  It is very easy to navigate and the way it is set up makes me want to read it and look around the site more.

Google Blog is a site that I would NEVER go on.  I am not interested in anything like that.  It makes me not want to read it because the whole page is just words.

So since I don't like blogs with all words, my goal is to add pictures so that it hopefully keeps you interested.
